MOOD BOOSTERS...

UPLIFTING YOUR MOOD..

Oh yes, those pesky moods that creep out of nowhere..one day you are like sunshine flying high and the next day , all you want to do is the basics and crawl in bed and watch some crappy TV.

 I know..I know..blame it on the hormones, life, weather , whatever it is..hey we all go through it!
The days when I feel like that I have a few tricks up my sleeve to make myself feel better, not in a fake- Stepford wives sort of way but really from the inside , from your heart.
You just have to be open and take the steps…if you don’t intend to feel better then it is your choice.

1.     Call an old friend and laugh like crazy about something stupid you guys did together, sure to lighten your mood.Darjeeling, my home town is known for humorous people, I am so lucky to have a lot of them as friends in Facebook ( Thank you Facebook!). It is almost instant..and the humor is so real that the little moody problems seem to be trivial compared to what people have to go through . Brings everything into perspective!

                                                       Oh, these photographers!

2.     A good yoga class with a friend or by yourself will definitely send those endorphins surging through your veins. Besides lifting your mood, yoga reduces stress, increases your flexibility. “You are only as young as your spine” ! So, you also have a good chance of preserving your youth! hah!

3.     Exercise – I always look forward to my exercise….it is such a cleansing time for me! Try it! When you are feeling dull and tired and the last thing you want to do is exercise- EXERCISE! Buy some sexy work out gear, choose bright colors and simply enjoy getting your heart rate up , blowing off steam and stimulating various brain chemicals!
4.     Read poetry. This truly boosts my mood. Here is one of my favorite poems of all times:

                                        a host, a crowd...

Daffodils

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

5.     Meditate. Journal your thoughts, there is no better way to release your pain than through words written just for you, nobody needs to see it, let it flow..stream of consciousness writing let words come out like tears into paper . Often you will find the root cause of your pain. Then close your eyes, take deep breaths and let go ..relax..relax….and drop into the silence of your heart , the part deeper than any hurt can touch…then increase the healing energy, the light into all levels of your being.
