FATHER........

Dearest Mothers, sisters, fathers and brothers,

I know a lot of fathers are reading my blog because I get comments from them every now and then. I want to give them a huge shout out! My husband is one of them!

As I lost my mother at a very young age and although my sweet aunt took over most of the duties as a generous, wonderful mother to us, my father was also our mother. This is really just going to be a little recollection as I mother my child with my father as a role model.

                                        Two Hands 1

The clouds would blanket the skies, the black crows would line up on the power lines, huddled together too cold to fly, icy cold fingers of the wind whipped our faces and then made its way deep into our bones, perhaps even freezing them sometimes.

Sunday mornings, we would all have breakfast in bed with our father. We were three girls. We sat around in his bed as he narrated tales about his enchanting world. We listened with rapt attention and visualized each word which materialized into pictures, graphics and holograms. He somehow made everything come alive. I remember laughing till I cried and sobbing silently with some of his really poignant tales.

The male influence is so imperative in your child’s life too. The ying and the yang. Gone are the days when the mother was blamed for the children’s foibles, now men are equally responsible for the upbringing. Historically the mothers were more involved in the child rearing but studies now show that Fathers should play a distinct role in child development as those results in a more positive outcome for the future of the child.

Spiritually speaking, the child does seek out the male or female characteristics to integrate within themselves. A child is looking for balance from an outside source so being really conscious and aware of the way the mother treats the father and vice versa is important to remember.
                                family

I have often seen parents allowing the child to talk disrespectfully to them. Their reasoning is that they are allowing their child to be free, but in the same token  the parent is teaching the child that it is acceptable to be treated  with disregard, so the child too will agree to be treated in a similar fashion in life, it is not just about manners. It is eventually about self respect and how they treat themselves.

                                      infant

What kind of role model are you? I am not asking you to become someone else here, but intrinsically you are that spiritual being that does respect and is balanced with the male or female energy present within you. I am simply asking you to become aware of that and encourage the male participation (if there is little) into your child’s life.

WHAT IS TRUST...

Greetings Mothers,

How can we trust something that is unseen? How can we trust something that is concealed? How can we trust something that is perhaps what a lot of people think as imaginary?
But then trust is what you have been doing and being from the time you were born. Can you see your future? Yet you go through great lengths to plan it. Can you see your next step? Even the very word that I am going to write next is an intimate relationship with trust.

                                             Posing fun

And yet people have great difficulty trusting the path, trusting the heart and trusting the Universe.

Here are Five simple ways to trust the Universe:

1.     Know that you are trusting the unknown the very fact that you are living, breathing and enjoying your life. Whether anyone trusts or not, they actually are.
2.     Give without expecting anything in return, because when you expect you are excoriating the simple act of giving. Give trust without expecting or getting attached to any results.
3.       Although  we think that trusting is  an ACT, it is really a state of being. When you are one with the Universe with God then you don’t have to act or do anything, the guidance  will be enough to be one with the Divine.
4.     Take that leap of faith when called upon to do so, when you don’t leap you stay stagnant because you it is impossible to go back. The leap is necessary for the next step. Please write to me about the leap of faith that you are taking this day/week/month. I will be  rooting for you.
5.     You are placed  in this earth to co-create a beautiful, happy life. Trusting means releasing those elements that cause you suffering.

Thank you for reading my blogs, I enjoy reaching out to all my beautiful readers and hope that it helps them in some way or the other. I know a lot of you have e-mailed me to let me know how much these blogs have helped them. I am grateful for your appreciation, it encourages me to be more.
I am here for you to hold your hand when you take that leap of faith. Set up an appointment with me so you can reach those lofty goals and see real results in your life.

ON AGING..

Greetings Mothers and my beloved readers from all around the world,

I invite you today to explore "AGE" with wisdom, with insight and deep perception.

Close your eyes and say the word "age" and  experience a full sensory awareness, addressing the four aspects of your inner world, thoughts, feelings, Emotions and physical senses. Just an exercise I did this morning and this was my experience. Feel free to do the same .

Thoughts

“This movie is for the young at heart”   my mind paced back and forth like a swing, then up and down like a child on a trampoline . Age got me thinking. Age, ageless or age less. My thoughts were pretty random by then. I stood in front of the dining room mirror and imagined wrinkles on my face and the graceful feeling of experience, marinated into the juices of life, deeper understanding, those wrinkles that had formed in my face now became more striking with character, like strokes of life. I think age can just really be for me, a more immersed, more understanding, more intense version of being.

                                              RubyShoes

Feelings

“Follow..follow..follow..follow..follow the yellow brick road”  Innocence, charm and purity. The age of purity! I feel the age or the agelessness of purity. I close my eyes and my legs and arms shrink into the age that I remember feeling free and bright. I recall that very moment when I need to feel innocence and really see  life from that perspective.
Five years old and my father has taken me to be interviewed by the school that I was to attend. I wore my favorite dress. It was white with pink butterflies and I felt like one, light footed, free and colorful. The happiness always sent out giggles from my belly and I did that quite often, this time, all the way to school.
I remember my father relating this incident to me as his most memorable, i think.

We reached the school, we were asked to wait at the parlor. The walls were painted yellow and it gave a bright burst of energy to the school.  It was a sunny day and I could hear the little kids playing in the playground .When my father  went inside, to sign some papers and talk to the principle of the school  he asked me to sit tight! I could not resist the sound of the kids frolicking. I slipped out to the playground.

Next, I hear  my name being called as my father was looking for me.  When he found me, I was running in front of a group of little children, yelling, screaming and giggling..chasing a dazzling yellow butterfly! This is the ageless feeling I have about myself. This  is the girl that will never grow up as life is still as fascinating for me, as I feel each moment a burst of yellow butterflies and giggles. That has stayed in my mind as a feeling of happiness, cheerfulness and really a spontaneous understanding of living in the moment.

Emotions

Passion….Closing my eyes and trying to identify the emotion attached with age, I see intense, brilliant colors, like the aurora borealis moving like waves dancing to the rhythm of life. The emotion is strong, bold and assertive. This emotion clearly wants to live for the moment. This emotion wants to make the most of everything. Love, life, art ..like a lion, it roars and shakes its mane and declares its place in life. There is an underlying emotion, this probably is the female force. This emotion is not as overpowering as the lion emotion. This is quiet, secure , confident and all knowing. This emotion is the root of my life. It grounds me, it nourishes me and understands me. But the strange thing is, these two emotions are actually lovers. They are very attracted to each other as they lack what the other emotion possesses. Together they are a harmonious team. With age the emotions all become more and more distinct yet more harmonious. I am enjoying these emotions so far.

Physical senses

How does age smell? This is interesting! Age smells like rose petals , soft pink rose petals . Tastes like a green cayenne pepper with plain rice. Just simple and that which hits the spot! Feels to the touch like a meadow, green soft grass with the morning sunlight and sounds like a river running through it.  Age looks like nature..as finite but as endless as nature.

MUSIC.......

Music

I cannot remember a time when music was not my ally, my companion, my comrade and my cohort. Music filled the gaps in my life, it watered my thirsty passion, it devoured my hunger for words that sounded empty without the sound.

Whether I was listening to the Bach or Madonna, music morphed into what I desired at the moment, it was non judgmental, unwavering, enduring and committed to me. Music can articulate and express what I feel more than any medium can.

Music is healing. When my daughter was in “utero” I held the headphones to my stomach and we listened to music together, and now when she is upset or distressed I encourage her to listen to music to soothe her. She too asks to listen to comforting music when she feels a little off balanced. Interestingly enough music is supposed to enhance the interaction between the left and the right brain.

You must have heard of the “Mozart effect”. French researcher, Dr. Alfred A. Tomatis in his 1991 book Pourquoi Mozart? (Why Mozart?) believed that listening to the music  at reverse frequencies assisted the ear, and encouraged healing and the development of the brain.

Today I ask you to find a music that makes you happy and play it for you. I have so many but let me share with you one of my favorites meditative pieces.

SAY NO..........

Dearest Mothers and all my sweet readers,

Please sign up now for my blog by clicking “join this site” on the right hand side. Thank you.
I would like to ask you a question right off the bat today, can you please send me an email at adwitiempowers@gmail.com regarding this question or simply hit the comment button.
What is the most pressing thing that you would like to have resolved right now for you and how do you think I can help you?

Thank you so much for replying.

Today let us address saying NO.

Sometime when we say No to others you are actually saying yes to yourself! No is one of the most powerful words that we learn because it is a boundary that we are creating for ourselves and for others to see very clearly.

I would like to say I am a great friend, but when I was younger I was a great friend too but did not realize the meaning of saying no, so I also became best friends with resentment!
Kindness, politeness and graciousness were and still are a big part of my life and it is still hard for me to say “no” but I learnt the hard way. This story is simply an example, there are many more :).

The incident I remember is when I was in Hong Kong and when it came time to go home to Darjeeling, India my excitement would touch the sky. I would plan for the vacation a year in advance, cross out the days in the calendar and start shopping for everyone back home. I had several well meaning friends who that year decided to send a few presents to their families. Of course I did not refuse any one of them, although I knew I had to pay excess luggage and carry/drag/lift all the baggage myself, I could not say “no” because I never did say no.

In fact I even bought a separate suitcase for the presents sent by my friends.

                                   travel girl

The flight schedule was hectic.  Hong Kong-Mumbai-Kolkotta-Bagdogra and then a few hours by car to Darjeeling. The lay over between the next flight from Mumbai to Kolkata was around  seven hours, not enough time to really get a hotel so most of the times I would spend the night reading at the airport itself. By the time we reached Kolkata a heady mix of exhaustion and excitement more lethal that a dozen Mojitos (I gather) would acutely take over...and by the time I reached Bagdogra which was the last airport on the way home, I lost one of own luggage but not the one with all my friends’ presents . I was thankful that I was able to keep my end of the commitment for my friends but also had a quiet resentment eating me away, for I lost my baggage with my favorite shoes and presents for my loved ones too.

                                    Baggage Claim

This is a small awakening towards perhaps opening up to saying no, to have the courage to say “I just cannot do it.”

Next year, I sneaked away home, without letting any of my friends know. This too did not feel good, because I felt I was deceiving them.

It took me a while to realize that it take GUTS to say no. Why? Because we fear that we will become unpopular. We fear that they will stop liking us, so we keep doing even if it means we are getting unpopular with ourselves.

Saying “no” really is an act of self love. We are actually respecting our desire and honoring our own feelings. When we say yes when we mean no we are in fact lying to ourselves that causes many conflicts within and without. Integrity within ourselves is important to experience, we are so busy trying to be integral and honorable with other people that we forget to be that for the most important person in our lives-ourselves.

Make a list of things that you are doing where you would rather say “yes” to yourself and “no” to that outer façade of being nice and pretty for others and consider the consequences and the toll it will take on yourself for saying yes to please others.

Here is to you empowering yourself by saying “yes” to you and “no” to others.
With all my love....

LIFE IS A DANCE.....

Greetings Mothers and others,

Follow my blog by clicking on "join this site" and also go to my website to get a free abundance e-course. Lots of good feedback on that one! ENJOY!

I have been emphasizing the awareness of consciously revering the feminine energy within you. We have worshipped the male, the doer too much now it is time to reflect, rest, rejuvenate and  then act, which is the yang energy.

My daughter was watching Avatar, the television series ( did I tell you she is a serious fan of the show and even watches the making of, the director’s cut and everything involved with the show ) and I caught a glimpse of it.

                                   Disco

They talk about the use of psychokinetic variants of Chinese martial arts known as "bending.", and this requires a lot of concentration, focus and internal meditation in all chakras or energy centers of the body to create the flow and then when the action happens it is part of the intention, beautifully choreographed.

Today I want you to think of  life as your dance partner. Enjoy the movement and create the flow with life.
1.     Listen to the music of creation - your heart .
2.     Watch the audience respond- the Universe.
3.     Feel the Rhythm – your heartbeat.
4.     Touch AND CONNECT with your life – your breath.
5.     Enjoy the dance- your smile and your laughter.

                                   dancing girl

Hope you are having a beautiful and blessed Sunday! It is raining here, I cannot distinguish between day or night and enjoying the respite at home, reading Autobiography of a Yogi and Tennessee Williams again.

So my beautiful readers, I bless you with the dance of life today. I am here adwitiempowers@gmail.com
