GOAL SETTING PART-2

Greetings Mothers,

Saturday and we are going to be brief again, because where setting Goals and making things happen are concerned we need to be brief and to the point!
So hopefully you have taken lesson 1 exercise and have implemented it. You know  the old adage of about Real estate is Location, Location, Location? I want to emphasize that the three most important elements of Goal setting is :
1.     Believe
2.     Believe
3.     Believe

I am sure  some of you are wondering what belief is, as abstract as it is and in the labyrinth of social conditioning and layers and layers of already warped sense of who we are, I will give belief to you in 5 clear steps. I do not want to trivialize belief by over simplifying it, neither do I want to complicate and confound it until it is unrecognizable.

But these are very profound ideas of belief that you can apply in your lives.

1.     Belief is about trusting the Universe/God to lead you the way. This is a very subtle knowing in your heart without question. You believe you love your child, there is no two ways about that right? The belief in your dreams or in your self should be the same way. I would recommend the book “ The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho to understand clearly what I am talking about here.
2.                 Here is an interesting twist. Whatever you believe is true, even when you don’t believe- that is a belief. So think about what you are believing, it is all coming true. If you decide to not believe in yourself or your dreams then the dreams will not believe in you too so watch carefully what you are investing your beliefs in.
3.                    If you have a hard time understanding belief or believing in yourself or your dreams, practice the art of believing in the “now”. When I say believing in the now I mean believing in small goals accomplished. Writing the list of things to do the next day for your ultimate goal and then at accomplishing them, builds on belief. When the big picture in the distant future is overwhelming you, then let go of that big picture, set it free to manifest the way the Universe/God wants it to.
4.                    You simply start taking those incremental steps and accomplishing them one by one. When we were doing some rock climbing training, the first thing the instructors told us as they tied the harness around us and we heard the caribiner clip click , was  “Do not look up or down, just focus on the area you are climbing.. and once you feel the top of the rock, climb up and enjoy the view.” That made a lot of sense to me, as I heard a bunch of other girls screaming while they made their way up, I am sure they we not just looking at the immediate rock “ I wanna go home..” or “ Please..get me out of here!”  We don’t want to have that happen to us right! Just keep believing and focusing in the space you are right now.
5.                    Belief is abstract, so all you can do is step into it. I invite you to step into your belief right now.

Belief is a seed that blossoms into a beautiful flower that adorns the world that need it.

Until tomorrow mothers Believe !

GOAL SETTING -PART 1

Greetings Mothers,

I have a hectic day today Moms, you know how that goes. Today I am going to briefly touch on Goal setting. I get it, mothers are busy people. So I am going to make this work for you as quickly as possible.

I want you to have goals because that gives you something to look forward to and make you feel accomplished.  This is going to be 5 easy steps, and you follow the five steps you will be able to achieve anything you want, provided you believe in yourself.

The  reason why I feel for Moms is because I am one myself and being torn between the family, the ambition or desire, sometimes the guilt that raises is head and  creates havoc in your psyche and then in your life.

Goal Setting will clarify that chaos. When I was doing a survey with my clients on what is the most fruitful results they have achieved from my services, it was almost a unanimous “clarity”. Clarity is really knowing your destination, to be able to see it without any doubts or hesitations in your mind. It is like getting into a taxi and giving the driver the exact address. If you don’t have the exact address then the driver will be unable to take you to your destination.
So let us start the process of knowing where you want to be in the next year:

1.     First before anything else I want you to visualize what it is you want to happen in the next year. Either mentally, physically, financially and spiritually. It could be  four different things, so make sure you are writing four different goals. Now I want you to write that down in a piece of paper in a positive manner, fold it and put it in an envelope. After that  I want you to place the envelope under your desk or someplace where you will not really look at it often. What we are doing here is creating the subconscious flow of energy without being too stressed about it.
2.    Write down 5 reasons why you want the goal. This is very important step, because this is the juice that will drive your desire.
3.     What resources do you already have that will contribute to getting your outcome? Write down five resources that you can start implementing toward your goal, and start today. Make a commitment and start today. You are welcome to comment and state your goals in my blog. We can all cheer you on.
4.     Break down your goals into monthly mini goals, and those monthly mini-goals to weekly goals and eventually, into everyday micro-mini goals. Every night before you go to bed, make a list of three things you are going to do (action wise)  the next day to contribute towards your fulfillment and success.
5.     Believe in your dreams. Before you go to bed or just as you wake up in the morning visualize the realization of your dreams, don’t worry about the boldness  of it…imagine it enough times, it will seep into your subconscious and that is when you will truly work towards making everything happen.

Until tomorrow mothers Set your Goals, I will be back with Goal Setting 2 !

SHAKESPEARE AND COMPANY AND A LITTLE KINDNESS

Greetings mothers,

Thank you for reading  my blogs and I have had great responses from it.  Someone even e-mailed me to ask “ what is kindness? When you say be kind, be compassionate, be happy how are we supposed to do that?”

I thought about it and wondered if I should give a step by step program about how to be kind but that sounded a little unkind J, so I am now flashing back into my past, and sharing with you an incident that stayed as an impression, not just for the deed but for the  multifaceted experience I had.

Walk with me to Paris, my very favorite city in the whole wide world besides Darjeeling, my hometown. I used to be a flight attendant for Cathay Pacific and I frequented this city often because she communicated with in countless ways. My obsessive fervor for this city made me explore, discover and pursue her in ways that only a lover would-such was my fascination for this place. I enjoyed the musty smell of the metro as I approached the underground and then occasionally become totally blown away by Orchestra buskers. Yes, a whole Orchestra was playing one time, as I lay my back pack down and became immersed in the emotion of the music and the musicians, temporarily abandoning my unplanned destination.

Wearing fashionable clothes was not really for me those days. I would basically wear torn jeans, a T shirt, comfortable shoes and scour the streets, the museums, spend hours just staring at a sculpture in the middle of the street or try my petit French language with the  vendor who sold  the best ever chocolate crepes on narrow lanes between beautiful architectural structures. The streets that are paved in cobblestones reverberated with an unspoken language which I comprehended in more ways than I can explain.

Feelings were evoked every corner, you may be captured by topless models doing a photo shoot or an American busker singing “I’m losing my religion” for the umpteenth time!  My involvement in this place made me an expert in finding places and delving in without hesitation, not the haute couture for me then but the history, the literature, the opulence and the sensuality of the era that still delivered with panache.

One place I frequented every visit without fail was a particular book shop in the left bank, opposite Notre Dame often called the heart of Paris. This iconic bookshop was called Shakespeare and Company. It was then owned by this eccentric gentleman called George Whitman. At any given time he would have a cat on his left shoulder and books on his other hand. He owned this book store since 1951 and I heard that he passed away in 2011 at the ripe age of 98. The bookstore is as iconic as the owner.

You did not step into a bookstore, you stepped into specters of Hemingway, Henry Miller, Anais Nin, you could feel the dynamism of passion, art, creativity … it would  make any reader or an artist dizzy with imagination. There were books spilling from every nook and cranny and shelves of this place, which were seeped in history, art and culture.

                                                         George Whitman and I

While I was browsing through the books and mingling with the many aspiring writers, I overheard an interesting conversation between the owner and an American couple.

The couple had bought about five books but their American express was not going to work and they did not have cash. The woman was frantically looking through her backpack and the man was visibly disappointed, when George Whitman said “ Tell you what, you take the books and return the money when you come back.”
“But..but..we are leaving tomorrow for New York!” she said perplexed!
“That is fine, when you come back again you just return the money!” nonchalantly  with one statement he changed the landscape of my thought process.

I was stunned! Did people like this still exist? I thought it was only in my little hometown tucked away in the Himalayas that these things happened, that too dwindling at record speed-this encounter not only embodied kindness but it restored my faith, hope, trust in a world that was infused by skepticism. I felt the warmth reach the cockles of my heart and till this day, continues to do so. The customers looked visibly shocked but it was second nature for this eccentric, peculiar man to serve the readers, to love humanity and touch them in ways unimaginable.

I did not want to leave the store, so as an aspiring poet, I stayed there all day. I even pretended to be just traveling and not on duty, socialized with the artists, practiced my French, drank wine with French bread and cheese and let the creative juices permeate into my being.

As I walked out of the store to leave, I paid for one of the books that the couple could not pay for apart from my own collection. I saw  the silhouette of George Whitman on the street with the cat on his left shoulder, the evening light extending his shadow just like his enigmatic personality. The Notre Dame Loomed large now, just like my faith. The skepticism that I had acquired lost a little ground that day, the erasing process had begun!

Until tomorrow mothers have faith, give a little kindness and smile!

OF POETS, WRITERS AND PHILOSOPHERS-MOTHERS MAKE THAT LEAP!

Greetings Mothers,

How are we doing? Today it is raining here, I love how the rain intensifies the color of nature, the grass looks greener, the reflection of the gun metal sky onto the earth somehow gathers me to a place of deep serenity. I find rain to be such a feminine energy. Creative, intuitive and essential in its inherent nature.

My daughter just curled up next to me and looking out the window she said “ Mom, Mother nature is watering her garden.”

I am enjoying this time with my cup of decaffeinated coffee, the echo of falling rain humming in my heart, my daughter has settled down to drawing snow white and getting her lips exactly the way she wanted it.

I believe I have slipped into a timeless moment right now as each flashing moment bursts into infinite awareness.

I feel Emily Bronte, Emily Dickenson and Parahansa Yogananda simultaneously.

If all three were in the same room what message would they give you?  Bear with me here, I am perhaps imagining their worlds colliding into one and creating an energy that would ignite deep desires that everyone has but are afraid to acknowledge, to entice those audacious dreams that you are scared to reel it into reality, to find that deep well of inner peace that would be undisturbed by any outer influences.

Emily Bronte’s book Wuthering Heights is all about love and passion. Mothers, what if I ask you right now to feel your heart and ask yourself what your passion is. What are you hiding from you? What is it that you want to give to the world with gay abandon? Connect with that passion. Passion is the juice of life. Every time I read that book my passion for everything I do heightens and when you are using all your gifts to the best of your capabilities then you feel fulfilled.

Moving into the energy vortex of Emily Dickenson. Her innovation with words and her intensity always gives me a jolt in the dark. Intensity is concentration, it is focus and focus gives you depth and results.
Let me share  with you one of my favorite poems  that she wrote  :

There is another sky

There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!

Everything does not have to be necessarily intense, but courage to be who you are needs that intense energy. Who are you? Will you fade away always hoping to be what you truly are  inside the deep recesses of your heart or will you intensely search the regions of you mind, your heart and your soul to truly know yourself . This may not be about fame, fortune or money, it maybe something that you need to find out for yourself, peel the layers and discover the authentic you and have the courage to stand up and announce to yourself the real you, you do not have to announce to the world because when you recognize yourself the world will recognize you! It is as simple as that.

To amalgamate, to integrate this passion and this intensity in life, the message is clear from Paramahansa Yogananda. His answer is simple- Unconditional love for self and fellow men.

His saying “In the state of love, no matter what you do, it’s going to be good.”

When a mother is with her child she is in a state of love. I remember when we were little, if we cried for getting a reprimand from our parents, they would promptly say, those are simply blessings from us. It is in fact perception! When you look at it, most parents have the best interest in their hearts.

The love should fill your heart and then this love should translate into your life. Make that shift from wherever you are right now in your heart, make a conscious energetic movement in your mind upwards connecting to the steady flow of energy from the Universe and live your day with divine guidance.

Until tomorrow mother enjoy the company of whoever you choose to be with.
As usual if you have any questions or comments I am here to help you!

WHAT IS HAPPINESS..

"Happiness is like a butterfly.
The more you chase it, the more it eludes you.
But if you turn your attention to other things,
It comes and sits softly on your shoulder."
Henry David Thoreau

Happiness reminds me of golden sunshine that embraces with its warmth the very heart of the Universe, flowers that bloom in people’s words, blue skies limitless like the mind, clouds as ephemeral as thoughts or emotions, meadows that are fertile with creation, vast as rivers that flow into oceans and as pure as the white mountains, free as the wind, adding a splash of color like the aurora borealis….happiness touches us in myriad ways.

How can anyone define Happiness when Happiness is beyond definition.

You cannot achieve happiness, because happiness is within and without, it is not something that you go looking for because you lost it. However you can connect or disconnect from it with your own actions.

Here are some ways to connect to the happiness that is omnipresent .

1.    No matter how bad things are, I am sure you have seen children laughing and enjoying themselves. They are living in the “now”. Moment to moment enjoying and living that moment. You know it works out for them, it will work out for you too.
2.     Meditation in the mornings before you start the day is like watering your roots to give nutrients to the whole plant, without which it will die. The calm is as vital as water in our lives as it centers us back to homeostasis. When your body is in this optimum state it can function in the same level. When you are functioning in your   optimal, then connection with happiness is easier. Make a habit to close your eyes and just spiral upwards by simply saying “ I am happy” whenever you want, this may sound silly but when you say that the neurotransmitters start sending messages about being happy to the brain and the rest of the body.
3.     What prevents us from being happy?  Negative emotions. Again I reiterate, it is impossible to only have positive thoughts. So go ahead have those negatives thoughts but remember to let it go as easily as it came, or reverse that harmful thought into something  more soothing.
4.     Don’t keep destructive thoughts and feelings in your heart for it is like acid that slowly eats away the healthy, good feelings that enable you to connect with happiness.
5.     Be grateful. Be kind. Be Compassionate. Be Happy.
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY THAN TO BE HAPPY!

Until tomorrow mothers, Be Happy!

TAKE A BREAK

Greetings Mothers,
“Taking the time to do nothing often brings everything into perspective”
Doe Zantamata

I felt the power of a cup of tea a few days ago.

You know one of those days when everything that you are doing is falling apart, when things are not really moving as you have planned. It was one of those days, my cell phone service dropped off when a client was just about to make a break through ( can you believe that?), the e-mails were jammed and I had a 30 minute wait just to get to speak to service personnel, besides the appointments that I had with my clients, I also had to pick up my daughter from school and all those random miscellaneous items that popped up at the last minute.
It would have been almost impossible for one person to handle all this in a limited time frame, because the school bell was not going to ring any later and I had all these unwrapped projects waiting to be finished before my 2 o’clock deadline.

At first I thought I would tackle this one issue at a time, then I realized that all of these problems were hitched together and there was no one at a time.

I decided at that moment to walk away and find my inner calm.

I suspended my day for 15 minutes. I brewed a cup of Darjeeling tea and said everything can wait, except my peace of mind.

So leaving all the challenges behind I stepped into my calm.

The first sip immediately transported me to Darjeeling memories wrapped by misty mountains and long leisurely walks falling in love with love. I heard voices of children playing in the background, I tasted the smell of the fresh mountain air as my childhood blossomed in my mind, I rolled down hills, played camp with my neighbor friends, I became a teenager and felt the visceral quality of life.  I was able to touch my youth, everything came alive for me at that moment. The carefree attitude, the excitement that leaps from your heart and lands into your life with a splash, the vivid colors of dreams unlived and coming alive, the wonderment that each cell possesses, all burst into my consciousness like a collage into a wakeful vision board. I heard the torrential downpour that Darjeeling is so prone to during monsoons, and it cleansed my mind of its tensions and frustrations. The white mountains made my spirit soar like like those cirrus clouds adorning the sky.
                                        DARJEELING MY HOMETOWN

The cup was empty now but I was full! Full of freedom, full of joy, full of encouragement,  rejuvenation and calm.

When I returned  back the email problem was being fixed, the cell phone was still out of order but it was okay, it would all work itself out in its own time. I was able to re-schedule some of my clients and wrap up some of the other issues keeping in mind that all these problems were not permanent  and everything changes when you change your perspective.

Doing nothing brought me a whole lot of everything, there is truth in the saying “nothing holds everything”. So moms I urge you to take that moment for yourself, be it  with a cup of tea, de-caffeinated  coffee, green tea whatever your choice is, but make room to empty that cup and fill your soul!

Until tomorrow mothers, surrender!

INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION FOR MOTHERS: FLOW WITH THE UNIVERSE

INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION FOR MOTHERS: FLOW WITH THE UNIVERSE: Sunday and the day has been a little hectic with chores, some Skype sessions and taking care of my daughter. She always wants to help me...

FLOW WITH THE UNIVERSE

Sunday and the day has been a little hectic with chores, some Skype sessions and taking care of my daughter. She always wants to help me cook and I, as a mom just want to get it done, especially when I am making some Nepalese or Indian delicacies  where the preparation can be tedious work involving chopping, mincing, washing, cleaning, gathering the spices and then standing over the stove stirring.

I was chopping tomatoes, she wanted to slice them, nagging me about it. She wanted to peel the garlic and was tugging at my apron wanting attention. I was resisting. I wanted to be done so I could focus on the next thing. I asked her to leave the kitchen and occupy herself in some other way.

I was going to cook some quinoa instead of rice, so I walked over to the pantry and while pulling out the quinoa, the packet of flour which was in front of the quinoa fell on the floor upside down and now besides cooking I had a big mess to clean up. Cleaning flour in every nook and cranny of the kitchen and pantry floor was not how I wanted to spend my Sunday!

My daughter ran to my aid, and the quick thinker that she is, said that the bulk of the flour should be cleaned with a broom and a dustpan. She ran to get it and cleaned the major part of it. I vacuumed the rest of the powder, admiring our team work.

So I taught her how to cook watercress  with garlic, chili, turmeric and tomatoes. She loved the smell of garlic cooked in some olive oil, she stood over the fire and learned to stir the watercress over the tomatoes so they can get steamed with the juices. I thoroughly enjoyed wearing matching aprons and bonding over this beautiful moment. We were flowing with life.

WATERCRESS cooked with the help of my daughter!

Sometimes I get a little worked up about everything being just so and my daughter has always been able to show me to “surrender” without actually knowing that she is doing it. She is my reflection - as everything and everybody is in a subtle level. I look at her as the micro of the macro. She is the closest reflection of my life at large.

When I am stressed or hassled, she senses that and opposes everything I ask her to do. She can feel my resistance and makes me instantly aware that I am not going with the natural flow of life. When I am blinded by the heat of the moment and keep insisting on the resistance, I expend more energy trying to get what I want from her and get vehemently countered with as many reflections of my frustrations. Life does the same to you and me.

When I am relaxed she automatically extends the soothing flow and our frequencies match and we don’t even have to say anything to each other, we just know. This is how your relationship with life should be.

I want you to look at your connections closely and  examine the similarities that you are experiencing in the way life is treating you. In the very top layer, the physical realm you have to become extremely conscious to notice the subtleties that the deeper relationship with yourself is bringing to you from your life, into your life.

There has been a bit of confusion between surrendering and giving up. So, here is the easiest way I can explain from my experience.

Giving up means giving away your power to the outside forces. Surrendering means having the power to allow the outside forces to work for you. So giving up in this case with my daughter would mean “ she does not listen to me, so I am going to give up and let her not  listen to me”.  Surrendering means “ I am going to give her the power to listen to me and act accordingly.” The slight shift in perception changes the energy all together and before you know it, you are flowing with the energy of the Universe.

So surrender your life to the Universe, let the power of the Universe help you achieve whatever you desire because that is its ultimate goal. The ego prevents that from happening and creates tension, worry, anger , frustration and feelings of lack. All these emotions generate more of the same effects in your everyday life.

Just for today, I want you to let go and forget that you are in charge. Plan things from your heart but don’t get attached to its results, let the Universe bring you the results the way it is meant to.

Until tomorrow mothers, surrender!
